UK Visa Process
The United Kingdom is one of the most popular study destinations, offering world-class education and excellent career prospects. To study in the UK, international students must apply for the UK Student Visa (Tier 4). Below is the complete visa process:
- 1. Receive Your CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) - After securing admission, the university will issue a CAS Letter, which is essential for your visa application. It contains your course details, fees, and unique CAS number.
- 2. Prepare Required Documents - Collect the following documents before applying:
• Valid passport
• CAS letter from the university
• Academic transcripts & certificates
• English proficiency test (IELTS / PTE / TOEFL), if required
• Proof of financial support (living costs + tuition fees)
• Tuberculosis (TB) test certificate
• Passport-size photographs
• Proof of fee payment (if applicable)
• Statement of Purpose (SOP)
• Sponsor documents (if someone is funding you)
- 3. Apply Online for the UK Student Visa - Complete your visa application on the UK Home Office website.
Pay the required visa fee and IHS (Immigration Health Surcharge) to access healthcare in the UK.
- 4. Book Your Biometrics Appointment - Schedule an appointment at a VFS Global center to:
• Submit biometrics (fingerprints + photos)
• Submit supporting documents
• Some applicants may get an option for “Self-upload” to upload documents online.
- 5. Attend the Interview (If Required) - Some students may be asked to attend a Credibility Interview where you must answer questions about:
• Your course
• Your university
• Your study plans
• Your financial stability
- 6. Visa Processing & Approval - UK visa processing usually takes 3–6 weeks.
• Once approved, you will receive:
• A 30-day entry vignette in your passport
• A letter explaining where to collect your BRP (Biometric Residence Permit) in the UK
- 7. Travel & Arrive in the UK - Upon arrival, collect your BRP Card from the designated Post Office within 10 days.
- 8. Start Your Studies & Work Rights - Students can usually work:
20 hours per week during term • Full-time during holidays
